A game where you are the ship that blocked the suez canal

At the end of March this year, a giant container ship sank in the Suez Canal, and completely blocked one of the largest trade routes in the world for six days. Evidently, this happened at a time when most of us were still sitting at home with our T-shirts off, so the world became obsessed with history for a few days and the ship and the efforts to undo it were gone. turn it into a meme. Good times.

The thing is, as the experts were annoyed to point out, while we all laughed well, piloting something of this size down the Suez Canal is really difficult. An independent developer named Napas Torteeka certainly noticed, and Whatever is a not entirely serious attempt to present the challenges of the captain of a game-shaped container ship (thank you, 80.lv).

“You’ll cry and you’ll finally realize how amazing every cargo ship captain is,” reads the game's Steam page. "Because it's extremely difficult to pilot this! $ @%! $ 200,000 ton cargo ship with its extreme inertia across the channel."

The game is “a single-player cargo ship derivation game” and will be released in early access on September 7th. I'm glad to see that the additional "high priority" features to follow after launch are "more channel" and details like the charge exploding. But the game is being released in what the developer considers a complete form, with nine stages and two heads.

Yes, apparently at some point Godzilla appears in the Suez Canal.

There are also UFOs on some of the screens, so yes: if you want to accurately reflect the challenges facing the captains of giant cargo ships, this may not get you off track. But it’s fun to watch the real world go into games, even in a silly way, and remember when everyone was laughing at a big ship that got stuck.
