We haven't heard from Beyond Good and Evil 2 in a long time, following the acclaimed action-adventure that will soon be 20 years old. In fact, almost everything that has been done in recent years has only emphasized its continued absence of existence, including its exclusion from all Ubisoft E3 presentations since 2019. Even BG&E creator Michel Ansel got tired of waiting: he left Ubisoft in September 2020, after more than 30 years in the company.
Still, Ubisoft has reaffirmed today that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still happening. In its last quarter financial report, Ubisoft said its plan to expand premium game versions over the next few years includes a "rebirth of the fan-favorite franchise with Beyond Good and Evil 2."
This is the good news. The bad news is that just a decade after we first reported a promise from Ubisoft that BG and E2 were still under construction, but it would probably be a long way off, there is still no indication of when we might get our hands on it (or even put our eyes on it). When asked if Ubisoft's fiscal year 2024 could appear — which he says would put him at a time after May 1, 2023 — CFO Frederick Duguet said, with Beyond Good and Evil 2, but it's too soon to tell you more at this stage. "
And here's the thing: confirmation that Ubisoft hasn't abandoned the project yet and there's no compromise beyond that. After the last few years of silence, it’s good to know that Ubi hasn’t completely forgotten about BG & E2, but I have a feeling it will still be a long time before we get anything more substantial.
