The first half of the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update, which developer Mojang recently split in two, will hit PC on June 8, in both the Bedrock and Java editions of the game. The second part of what the study calls "the most ambitious" expansion of Minecraft to date is due in late 2021.
The update will introduce the goats, who walk through the mountains and deliver heads to unwary players – just like the real one. It also features axolotls (cute teen amphibians that will be in the water) and a bright squid from the newly canned Minecraft Land (which is still alive but closes on June 30).
Mojang publication announcing the date included some minor details about the new types of incoming blocks, "from amethyst to drip drops and the long-awaited copper block!" The anticipation of the copper block is due to the fact that, unlike other building materials, it will age after being placed, apparently, "giving your constructions a sense of history and a more organic feeling ". And here comes a mirror, also known as a telescope, so you can enlarge and admire your beautiful copper palaces.
This short video shows some of the new features, including the use of the goat to launch itself into the sky as Superman.
May there be life! With three new mobs joining the party at Caves & Cliffs: Part I, a lot of resplendent, resounding, jumping and dead games have been designed. A slightly longer version a Minecraft YouTube channel adds some developer chats, as well as demonstrations of the goats ’excellent sound effect – these things look annoying and fun, like a goat should. The first part of Caves and Cliffs will be released on June 8, and when it does, we’ll scale its heights and depths.
