A misconfigured server configuration briefly saw Apex Legends' computer sizes rise to five at the start of this week's Genesis Collection event, and although Respawn quickly fixed the problem, the developer has not canceled the correct test of larger templates in the future.
Along with the new time-limited cosmetics, two classic maps were returned to Apex Legends this week and a pretty strong set of balance changes. That’s a lot to change in a day, although an unwanted modification saw players surprised to discover that their teams were a slightly larger than usual.
“We had a small incorrect configuration on the server and all the computers had a size of 5, now we should be super fixed,” said technical designer Aaron L he wrote in response. "I won't lie. It sounds like a lot of fun for one or two games."
Despite pointing to a count of 5, many players found themselves with strength Teams of 6 people, which caused curious situations that caused some players to come out of their own victory screens.
The response to this error has been surprisingly positive, with Reddit players demanding that it be returned one way or another. Apex has previously experimented with different computer sizes, with limited time solo queues and a now permanent duo mode.
L promises to "make sure potential customers hear that comment," though yes you notice that this does not guarantee that we will ever fall into squadrons of five people. We hope for the best, though, after all, I would be much safer from falling into hot Skulltown knowing I had five extra pairs of eyes looking back.
