Battlefield 2042 won’t include a single-player campaign, but you’ll still be able to play it yourself, as DICE incorporates AI bots this time around. Aside from making solo play possible, robots will "make" 128-player servers and you won't be able to choose not to find them, EA said today. The editor said so The Verge something similar last month.
There is a limit to the number of AI soldiers that will appear in a given Conquest or Advance match, and EA says that in general, "you will not experience more AI soldiers than players unless the match is still is complete or almost empty. "Real players will move robots when they join.
Ideally, Battlefield 2042 would be popular enough to fill every game (except one per region, I guess, if the total number of players is not a multiple of 128), but apparently DICE has put a lot of energy into creating these AIs. the soldiers play decently. It was played during the June announcement and EA explains more in today’s blog post:
"AI soldiers are meant to play the game as you would yourself. However, they are not designed to be specialists and cannot use features and specialties. You will see them doing certain tasks, such as using the game system. call the vehicle and engage with vehicles or capture targets.Although they can't use the Wingsuit, they do have the intelligence to decide between engaging with you through enemy fire, flanking, throwing grenades, or even reviving a fellow 39; squadron shot down. "
Aside from helping to fill partially populated servers, as they do in Chivalry 2 and in certain Battle Royale games, Battlefield 2042 robots will make co-op or solo play possible. (You still have to be online even if you play solo, EA said today.)
Sometimes I just want to have fun with my friends without the odds getting in the way, so I'm curious about the Battlefield co-op.
As for robots as stuffing servers, I don't think there will be any that many in Conquest matches, at least in the early days of Battlefield 2042. DICE is working on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S crossplay, so there should be a fairly large group of players.
I don’t care about robots as a way to keep teams full as people come and go, but I hope I don’t join frequently in the middle of a game after a handful of players have been chewing on the robots for 10 minutes, it always makes everything a little washed out.
See you! Battlefield 2042 is scheduled for release on October 22nd. At EA Play Live next week, July 22, we will discover the secret and nostalgic mode in which DICE LA (now called Ripple Effect) has been working and after that there is yet another mysterious mode to know, so not yet we have nothing like the full picture. Until then, here’s everything we know about Battlefield 2042.
