He wakes up in a mysterious underground installation. You don’t remember who you are or how you got there. All that’s clear is that you have a mustache and a Hawaiian shirt, there are robots trying to find and kill you, and it’s the seventies. What are you doing?
Well, in The Chameleon, a stealthy retro exploration game from Merlino Games, I’ll tell you what you do: kick ass and take names with the superpowers you collect while researching the installation. (Although robots are unlikely to have names, as they are like robots. So just give it a kick).
As you can see in the trailer for the previous release date, you can sneak up into an identical copy of your robot opponents and then punch them into oblivion while they’re busy ignoring you. You can also use a script-like ability to zip them up and then flip them over and punch them. Or you can slow down the weather and border them around. Then puncture them. Whoever you are, you have a real hook.
The aim of The Chameleon is to unravel the mystery of the secret installation called "The LRS". Why are you here, what is this facility for, and what strange experiments led to the current situation? And why is it so similar to Magnum, P.I. According to the developer, you will be able to unclog it in a few hours of game time, but it will mean a lot of scans and explorations, and even more punches.
I love the backstory look of the game, a combination of pixelated graphics combined with modern lighting and volumetric effects. It will also feature a dozen music tracks inspired by the 70s to make you change as you combine with these evil robots. The Chameleon will be released on July 13 and you’ll find it at Steam i The Epic Game Store.
