Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night gets a sequel

Bloodstained: ritual of the night gets a sequel

It took longer than expected to arrive in Koji Igarashi's Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, but the delays proved useful: we called it "a perfect tribute" to Igarashi's past games in our review of 77 %, making it "a party for fans of this very specific experience". It also inspired an 8-bit-style derivation, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, which came out a bit ironically ahead of Ritual of the Night and got an even higher 80%, not bad for what was originally conceived as a bonus of stretched goal.

A sequel to A Curse of the Moon was released in July, and the Ritual of the Night team has been constantly incorporating DLC into the larger game since its release. But there were no signs of a sequel until this May, when a quarterly financial report from 505 Games parent company, Digital Bros., said Bloodstained had a "second version in development."

The wording is vague: a "second version" may mean a next-generation edition, a mobile version, or something for Stadia, perhaps, but the widespread hope was that it meant a complete and appropriate sequel to Ritual of the Night. it works.
