Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time: Toby Gard, who created the character Lara Croft and worked on the original Tomb Raider in 1995. He also worked on the remake of the 2000s media series. , the excellent Tomb Raider: legend, birthday and underworld.
Gard's new game, announced today at the start of Gamescom's Opening Night Live, doesn't look like a Tomb Raider knock-off: it's clearly more based on fantasy and structurally sounds quite different from the adventures of Lara. But I definitely saw some great statues and ancient ruins, so no complete way out.
Here is the description, directly from Steam page:
"Trapped in a shattered dimension, take on the role of Morgan Carter, an arcane apprentice of our day. Defeat the corrupt inhabitants of the Lands of Dreams to break the curse. Use stealth, traps, spells and illusions to pave the way. or challenge him quietly.front enemies, exploiting their weaknesses with conventional weapons.Only by destroying these soulless opponents can you delve deeper into the Lands of Dreams, discover the truth of your story and maybe … just maybe … find a way out. "
The Steam page has a few more points, but the most important thing is that it is a "growing platform of mystery and adventure" that will include new chapters of stories and biomes. It also looks like areas will be generated randomly, which makes me wonder how similar it will be to the Dream Cycle with Remnant: From the Ashes.
Clearly, Dream Cycle will evolve as it unfolds: the September 7 release date is an early access release.
