Bounty hunting has always been better with friends, and with this week’s massive update to Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, you can now share the spoils of your planet-side missions with the rest of your crew.
Odyssey Update 5 helps ground missions line up with their space transport counterparts, allowing you to share gigs with your wing. Goals and goals will count for the same group, and all users will be able to get the same rewards. The team leader will manage the target targets on the way out and the items carried by teammates who die during a mission can be retrieved.
That they could not be grouped together to commit robberies in this way at launch was a startling omission, the solution of which was to make terrestrial adventures a more tempting proposition. But now it should only be a little easier to get these fellows to make Odyssey fly in the first place.
Update 5 includes an incredible variety of bug fixes, enough to split the patch notes two parts and Steam. Major changes include full tuning of ships' interior lights, clearer artificial intelligence guards, and better detail of the terrain on the edge of the oldest planet. But the update covers almost everything, from audio mixing and server enhancements to a really massive list of UI changes.
Odyssey was notoriously launched in a rather poor quality state, enough for Frontier CEO David Braben to be forced to apologize. The expansion has received several major bug fixes, which have brought it closer and closer to the shape of the ship. It’s a shame that among doll-like NPCs and uninspiring missions, the Odyssey’s biggest problems require more than another round of bug fixes.
