For anyone wishing Far Cry 6 would turn the clock back to the fleshy realism of Far Cry 2, I have some bad news for you. It doesn't. Those who love the crazy DIY weapons of the latest games, on the other hand, may be a little happier.
Today’s Far Cry 6 game trailer revealed the October 7 release date. He also showed us several weapons that can be made, and one in particular is as ridiculous as they come. As you reclaim the land of Yara from a brutal dictator, you can kill your enemies with a CD player that will erase the 1993 song Macarena from Los del Rio.
We’re already used to shooting records against enemies in Far Cry: New Dawn games featuring a saw blade thrower that unfortunately didn’t cut the limbs or heads. However, it had the ability to bounce back, so you could take out several enemies with the same blade. We'll see if we can do the same with Macarena's CDs.
This CD launcher is arguably the dumbest weapon we see in the new Far Cry 6 game images, but it's not the only ridiculous device you can use to kill people. Other observations include a backpack that can launch a missile launcher, another that creates a ring of fire around you as it lifts you a few feet off the ground (not quite a jetpack, but close) and a mini-escape made with a motorcycle engine.
It's all very silly, but as part of a guerrilla team trying to overthrow a rich dictator, you have to make the most of the available resources. Apparently, this includes a lot of Macarena on CD.
We have a breakdown of some other interesting things we saw in the game trailer, including the ability to ride a horse, send crocodiles and hide from view while founding the weapon. Check out our preview of Far Cry 6 here.
