Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water was not well received after the release of Wii U in 2015. Our place for siblings Gamesradar + he criticized his "very repetitive action" and "uninteresting story," adding that "it's not scary at all." Very reprehensible words for a horror game, but maybe this remaster, which celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the series, will make things better.
This fifth installment takes place on a nefarious mountain famous for its suicides and supernatural phenomena, and the action takes place from the perspective of three characters. The original version implemented the Wii U gamepad as a camera: according to the main trick of the series, Maiden of Black Water tries to photograph the bad guys to defend them, instead of biting them with blunt objects.
This reissue is a surprise to say the least: it will mark the first time a Fatal Frame game for PC has been released. The trailer embedded above was shown at the Nintendo E3 2021 presentation and reveals that the Steam release will include "a new photo and costume mode." It’s not what fans of the celebration series might have expected, but it does expect Koei Tecmo to plan to make a new Fatal Frame (other than a pachinko).
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water will premiere sometime in 2021.
