Fortnite gets ferrari to get its first licensed car

Ferrari, the eighty-year-old company that makes luxury cars that are probably more expensive than your entire home, joins Fortnite for the first crossover of its kind. Based on some official teasers from Fortnite and Ferrari’s Twitter accounts, it looks like gamers will be able to drive Ferrari’s 296 GTB model starting tomorrow.

Here’s a real life Ferrari 296 GTB if you want to see what you’re driving. The real car has a number of statistics that I can't begin to understand, such as a turbocharged V6 engine and an 818 horsepower electric motor. What I do know is that the 296 GTB was announced earlier this year and starts at around $ 330,000. If all you can afford is your home wifi, check it out Ferrari car configurator to see all the bells and whistles you can put on it. The 296 GTB is due out in 2022.

What makes it a little more interesting than the latest version of Fortnite is that, well, this is the first time Fortnite is doing a crossover with a brand that isn’t a movie, a comic, another video game brand, or a celebrity like Bugha, Neymar. Jr. or LeBron James.

Ferrari really has a sports division, which started in 2019, where digital racing competitions are organized in simulator driving games like Asseto Corsa. There are tournaments, grand prizes and even an official formation of the Ferrari team. Not a problem for Fortnite, which does similar things within its own sports division.

Fortnite introduced battle royale vehicles in Chapter 2 of Season 3, when Epic flooded the map and receded the water to make way for more mischief. That said, none of his vehicles (including a loaded sports car, a semi-truck, sedans, and pickup trucks) were based on any real-world models.

It's easy to think of a Ferrari executive holding hands somewhere, rejoicing at how long the company can build brand loyalty. Luxury brands entering video games are not a completely new concept, as they prove Louis Vuitton packing a suit for the League of Legends Cup Winners' Cup, along with a clothing training. Instead of waiting for adults with too much money to buy huge PC racing gear, Ferrari can make children (and a multitude of adults) play Fortnite more familiar with their training. At least now kids will have a chance to fight to save for a Ferrari when they turn 60.

My bet is that the Ferrari handles in a similar way to Fortnite’s current sports car – a lightning bolt on paved roads, but incomplete on grass and dirt. Fortunately, when that of Fortnite Ferrari light on, you can rest easy because someone is shooting you.
