Garry Newman, founder of Facepunch Studios, said the studio behind Rust and Garry’s Mod is helping Easy Anti Cheat (EAC) in its quest to make its software compatible with the Proton compatibility layer for Linux. This is good news for Steam Deck fans, as the reason many popular games can’t run on Proton is due to anti-cheating software.

Proton, also known as Steam Play, is a Valve compatibility layer that allows games created for Windows to run on a Linux system. It was recently highlighted by Steam Deck, Valve's Linux-based PC gaming handheld device. However, it is also a tool used by many Linux systems to play games that would not otherwise have a Linux version.
