Genshin impact casually reveals two new characters months before their release

Genshin Impact the next major update falls on Wednesday, but developer MiHoYo has done something amazing today and has revealed two new characters that are supposed to arrive in the July 1.7 update. The first of the revealed is Sayu, a four-star Anemo character who is rumored to be a healer (her weapon type has not yet been officially revealed). Apparently, she is a ninja and comes from the Inazuma region, which will be the first major continent added to Genshin Impact when it is released later this year.

Next to Sayu, MiHoYo also revealed Yoimiya, a five-star Pyro archer who also comes from Inazuma. Again, details are extremely scarce at the moment, as all MiHoYo has revealed is that Sayu is the owner of the Naganohara fireworks, which is presumably a major business in Inazuma that will somehow be related to the biggest story.

Aside from the character's art, there's not much else to say. But it’s a little weird for MiHoYo to show these new additions to the list so soon. Update 1.6 arrives on Wednesday and we only recently saw the new characters appear. So everyone can guess when Sayu and Yoimiya will be able to play.

Traditionally, Genshin Impact works with a six-week calendar of major updates, but we don’t have much information on what’s beyond the next patch. We do know that we are slowly moving towards the launch of Inazuma, an entirely new region to explore that will represent a considerable expansion of the base game, but MiHoYo's exact roadmap remains a mystery. That said, I’m not complaining. It’s great to see Sayu and Yoimiya finally reveal themselves. We hope to have more details on what update will accompany soon.
