Genshin Impact fans aren't too happy with the game's latest five-star character.
Pirate archer Yoimiya has been live on Genshin's limited banner for just over a week. Fans were excited about his arrival: his design is fantastic and the only other fire-based archer is firmly at the bottom of most Genshin level lists. But now it’s here, complaints about the broken mechanics are frequent and players are worried that it will be a precedent for future character releases.
It is a problem for a game in which players can easily invest hundreds of dollars. Five-star characters are rare, and are often only published for small windows at a time, before being closed for several months. Even if players don’t spend money, they often spend weeks or months grinding and saving their favorites.
Redditor PartyConfetti he compiled an extensive list of Yoimiya's problems, including the fact that most of his normal attacks miss the enemy. Players are also frustrated with their strongest attacks blocked behind the second half of a combo, despite the frequent need to dodge and break it. Companion of redditor Ayatori considered the situation "unacceptable", sharing concerns that developer miHoYo has not yet responded to any complaints.

“Yoimiya’s problem isn’t that she’s weak … it’s that her team is completely poorly designed, uninteresting, disconnected, and obviously undergoing testing,” Ayatori wrote. "I'm not asking Yoimiya to become one of the best DPS characters in the game. She can stay at level C for all I care about, she just has to have her mechanics fixed."
Go to the Chinese social networking site Weibo and you’ll find thousands of disappointed players. Many answers simply say “optimize Xiaogong,” Yoimiya’s Chinese name. Some lament miHoYo’s lack of communication, while others encourage players to flood the live stream of updates this week with complaints.
Unfortunately, it’s surprisingly weird that miHoYo responded to criticism around Genshin Impact and its cast, although the study gave five-star Zhongli a significant fan last year after fan complaints. With the live stream of Gensin Impact 2.1 coming soon, it will be interesting to see if anything happens or how far fans will go to fix their favorite characters.
