Popular voice artist Erin Fitzgerald has left the role of Ramlethal Valentine of Guilty Gear to "support more work for black actresses behind the microphone."
Fitzgerald, who voiced the character in the Guilty Gear Xrd games, confirmed on Twitter that he had stepped down from the role after fellow actress Laura Stahl announced she would be the new voice of Ramlethal for the upcoming Guilty Gear Strive.
"Yes. For those who sent me messages, I happily left so they could launch them more appropriately," Fitzgerald wrote in a quote-retweet about Stohl's announcement. . When asked for more explanations, he replied, "The character is black, I'm not black. I support more work for black actresses behind the microphone."

Stahl, who recently provided the English dubbing for Barbara and Xinyan of Genshin Impact, responded to Fitzgerald's tweet, praising the decision. "Before accepting Ramlethal's role, I was asking for clarification on the situation and not only deeply respecting Erin as an actor, but also as an amazing person. Thank you for your grace. You are phenomenal."
Guilty Gear Strive will be released on June 11 after being delayed in February.
