Regular readers will be aware of my contempt for Hearthstone’s Priest class. As for me, the degenerates who choose to run it, those players who are actively looking for marathon matches in which they steal all the cards from their opponents and generally make everyone’s life more miserable, are the same kids who threw the legs. out of the spiders at school. With that out of the way: take a look at this crazy new priestly letter.
Purified Fragment is a legendary spell that costs 10 Mana and says, "Destroy the enemy hero." This is. No ifs or buts. Unless they have a Counterspell in play, it’s only GG WP. But before everyone (except the aforementioned Priest sickos) is uninstalled collectively, there is a warning and it is important. Don't actually put Purified Shard on your dock – it's a reward for completing one of the new mission lines in the United in Stormwind expansion, which will be released on August 3rd.
You can see how the card is revealed thanks to a typically brilliant cartoon of Wronchi shown above, but here’s how it works: To acquire Purified Fragment, you must first play the Seek Guidance Questline card. As with previous Quest cards in Hearthstone, it will always start in your hand and cost 1 mana. Then you need to complete three steps to acquire the purified fragment. The first step is called Seek Guidance and requires you to play a 2, 3 and 4 cost card. The second step is called Discover the Void Snippet, which requires you to make a 5 and 6 cost card.
If you complete each of these steps, you will be able to discover a card from your deck. These incremental rewards make sense, as earlier this month, senior game designer Liv Breeden he explained to me, "We can give you some power along the way to help you complete the Questline … it's less all or nothing."
The third step of the mission is called Illuminate the Void and requires you to play a 7 and 8 cost card. Do this and you will now receive the legendary minion Xyrella, the Sanctified. It is a 5-Mana 7/7 whose text reads: "Taunt, Battlecry: Insert the purified fragment into your cover. "After all, it will work for you yet you must play Xyrella and then draw the Shard dang to kill your opponent. In my opinion, even if you draw completely perfectly, it will cost you 41 manas just to get the purified fragment on your cover.
I’m not sure if the possible strategy will be to use cards like Nazmani Bloodweaver and Palm Reading to manipulate the cost of their spells and speed up the process, but even if that works out, it will still be a big pain. Of course, there may be other cards in the set that make it easier to accomplish, but it will definitely still be a slogan, as it should be, given the power of the reward. As for whether it will really be the next big thing on the ladder when United in Stormwind falls, I guess not. Zach O, the founder of the Hearthstone analytics site Vicious Syndicate, agree:
"It's very slow and very restrictive. There will probably be support, but it's hard to predict a game plan so linear that it works," he says. "You're very dependent on the prediction and it's predictable. The cost of building the deck is high. In my view, this is a fun quest that casual players will love, which makes it a good design. The cards "Winning the game has to be so slow. They try this kind of thing to make sure there's enough space for the goal to get into it."
Mercifully, he is right. Even the revealing video takes years to play. It is also easy to make comparisons with other striking instawin cards such as Mecha & # 39; thun and Uther of The Ebon Blade, which had the potential to kill the opponent from any total of life, but required a lot of configuration. More recently, C & # 39; Thun the Shattered, which does 30 damage in a single turn (thus ending most games at the time), also proved too slow to come out really competitively, not that it stopped a lot of players experimenting with cards . This happens with these effects: they are so much fun to download that people will always experiment with making them work. And meanwhile, the rest of us can enjoy killing a group of priests who play a slower fight than tectonic drift.
