In the most recently announced DLC piece for A Total War Saga: Troy (titled Mythos), the Trojan War strategy game has unexpected turn: we now have mythical monsters.
To be clear, there are many established games in this time period (or wherever they are) – we see the Mediterranean Bronze Age and start looking for hydras – but Troy is proud to explore potential realities behind the myth and legends of the time. Even to the point where he explored the concept of the minotaur as a very big boy with a very big ax. The necessary counterpoint, however, is that these griffins look very good.

It’s likely to be a move to get new players not yet into Total War, and it’s not strictly bad. The trailer is who of the mythical Greek monsters, who gives us hydras, griffins and a Cerberus that breathes fire (far from the others of dog video games, it must be said).
The Mythos DLC for A Total War Saga: Troy will be available on September 2nd.
