The story of a boy's quest to keep dangerous and exotic animals as pets will be published on July 9, but apparently things won't stop there, as Capcom has detailed an extensive calendar of Monster updates Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. The set of free updates, some of which had been previously announced, kicks off with the incorporation of Monster Hunter Rise’s signature, Palamutes, the adorable mountable dogs, on July 15th.
Monster Hunter Stories is a derivative of the main role-playing games of Monster Hunter focused on collecting and training, rather than hunting, the titular beasts of the series, called Monsties in the much more familiar stories. The first game in the series was released for Nintendo 3DS and Stories 2 is a standalone game.
On August 5, you’ll see a cooperative quest around the golden-clad Kulve Taroth in Stories 2, along with the “deviant” monster variants Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos. An update in early September will feature more diversions, Soulseer Mizutsune, Elderfrost Gammoth and Oroshi Kirin, with Dreadking Rathalos and Molten Tigrex in late September. Finally, in October, a new monster will come out exclusively from the cooperative that, for my money, looks like a kind of Dragon Elder related to the storm —Amatsu coming back? "But who knows, really." Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian will appear next door, anyway.
On PC, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will be available exclusively on Steam.
