The original Not Tonight, published in 2018, drew a rather bleak artistic image of pixels from the European world, allowing for a clearly anti-Brexit exploration of systemic racism. Now, publisher No More Robots and developer Panic Barn are looking at the U.S. coast Not tonight 2.

Not Tonight 2 is set in a not entirely alternative universe where American society has had its way, except Mad Max, to the toilet. Lady Liberty is underwater in New York Harbor, Miami has changed the nightlife for gulags and churches have taken some Las Vegas tips on how to draw in a herd.

As for how you will spend time in this nightmare, your friend Eduardo has been captured by police and is awaiting deportation to a Miami gulag, and up to three of his friends (all young non-white adults) are out for a walk around the country and get your documents or risk losing your friend forever.

Like the original game, you’ll pay for your way across the country working in nightclubs, chicken factories, churches, and old cult compounds. It is a mixture of roles, verification of the identification of Please, with visual novelties and mechanics of RPG, with several minigames destined to express the degree of chaos of the country. An intramund map allows you to move from city to city, from restaurant to restaurant, so I'm curious about how the game will deal with the different types of discrimination used by a place like the south and the neoliberal vibrations NIMBY of San Francisco . Not Tonight 2 is being written by three POC authors, so there is hope that the story will be meaningful, or at least dark, entertaining.

In our review, Phil Iwaniuk noted that Not Tonight was a bit overly blunt about the global racism shown in a post-Brexit world, but stressed in every little moment that they illustrate the casual discrimination that perpetuates things, including an owner of bar who loves his immigrant employees because they are “the good guys”. Not Tonight currently has a 50% discount on Steam if you want to try it.
