Hypercompany Action RPG The Outer Worlds likes his satire, so it's probably no surprise that the announcement of The Outer Worlds 2 during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase was presented in the form of a trailer that he was basically making fun of the game’s trailers.
"We start by listening to an old, wise-sounding voice," says the narrator, before describing the "quiet, peaceful landscape that will make the game look big and important" before the scene is violently interrupted by a creature that " never be in the game, say goodbye forever. " Thanks for teaching me more about how game trailers are made and managing my expectations at the same time, Obsidian.
The trailer goes on to say that while the trailer has a bit of a slow, cool camera, the developers haven’t finished either the design or the story, nor do they have any gameplay to show, the epitome of a first commercial trailer, if you want. What it does say is that The Outer Worlds 2 will definitely be one thing, we just don’t know when.
“New solar system, new crew, the same outer worlds,” says the trailer’s description. "Outer Worlds 2 is coming … and as that day gets closer, we'll show you more … but until then enjoy it." Okay, then!
