While Intel’s dream of hybrid desktop computing hasn’t come true with Alder Lake yet, we’re already looking at the Santa Clara chip maker’s next big project. Intel Raptor Lake is expected to be Alder's follow-up to 2022, and rumors are that these chips will have a large number of cores on arrival.
We go straight into the exciting rumors. According to YouTuber and leaker Moore's Law is dead, Intel plans a major overhaul of the kernel with its second-generation hybrid processors, codenamed Raptor Lake. After Alder Lake, which will be launched later this year, Raptor Lake could include up to 16 "small" cores along with eight new "big" and new cores.

This would see Raptor Lake come with as many large cores as Alder Lake, but twice as many small cores, for a total of 24 per chip.
Raptor Lake may share the same basic architecture as Alder Lake, Gracemont, but its large cores will feature the new Raptor Cove architecture, which can be seen as "improved Golden Cove." Indeed, an improved version of the great nuclei of Alder Lake.
A larger number of small cores should help applications with a very high thread, while large cores will take the baton for more unique workloads, such as games.
That said, there is still a question mark over the performance of the hybrid chip. Not only the hardware has to change to make it possible, but also the software. For this reason, it is rumored that Intel will work with Microsoft on a new and improved Windows programmer. A capable of making better use of a mixed kernel configuration. It is said that it will arrive just in time for the release of Alder Lake.
Coincidence? I do not think so.
Intel Raptor Lake is said to arrive in late 2022, about a year after the rumored release date of Intel Alder Lake this October. Both Alder Lake and Raptor Lake are expected to share the LGA 1700 socket, and probably much more than that, even. Definitely DDR5 memory, Gen 12 graphics (Intel Xe) and PCIe 5.0, at the very least.
Everything Intel will pray will see how Raptor Lake struggles with AMD’s Zen 4 architecture, which will also be released in late 2022. Meteor Lake will continue the fight after that, Intel's first 7nm CPU architecture, which will be launched in 2023.
