Starfield is a little tougher than bethesda’s previous role-playing games, says todd howard

We learned more Starfield in the last 24 hours of what we did during the three years combined. Yesterday at E3 we saw for the first time Starfield trailer, which gave us many things interesting details to baffle (possibly including a clue about the Elder Scrolls 6).

And in a new interview today with The Telegraph, Bethesda executive producer Todd Howard revealed even more information about the space role-playing game.

"It's also a little harder on a role-playing game than we are," Howard told The Telegraph. "It has some really fantastic character systems: choosing your background, things like that. Let's go back to some things we did in games a long time ago, that we felt really let players express the character they want to be. ".

This is not one great specific explanation of why it's a tougher role-playing game than previous Bethesda games, but it can still be welcome news for fans who sometimes criticize games like Fallout 4 to have more limited role-playing game systems compared to previous games in the series.

Howard also confirms that, like Skyrim and Fallout, Starfield is a first- and third-person game, where players can choose from which perspective they want to play. And just like Skyrim and Fallout, there’s a bigger story in Starfield and the freedom to put it aside and take on other activities. "And if you just want to pass the time and go see the sunset and pick flowers, it's also rewarding."

Howard also talked about how futuristic the look of Starfield technology is, but not so much for players that it would not be recognizable. "So if you look at the ship, you can probably design a much more elegant ship for 300 years in the future, right? But that makes the touchstones go back to the current space program," Howard said. "So, in your mind, you can draw that line between them."

And there will be alien to Starfield. Not just alien creatures or creatures as seen in conceptual art, but real alien races, which Howard (unfortunately) did not provide further details. But it looks like not only other humans will be the ones you will meet and interact with as you explore the Starfield galaxy.
