2K is preparing to announce a new game and we have a good guess about what it could be. The parent company Take-Two has today maintained its quarterly profit report and has mentioned that 2K will have a "new franchise" to be introduced this month, and that the launch will not be too far behind: it will be released at the end of this year. fiscal year, ending March 2022. And this Marvel turn-based Firaxis game sure seems like a good fit.
A couple of 2K games leaked before E3: one was Tiny Tina & # 39; s Wonderlands and the other was a Firaxis "turn-based action game" starring characters from Marvel, confirmed by VentureBeat and Jason Schreier of Bloomberg.
“XCOM has players who command agents in small skirmishes and now Firaxis will weave some Avengers flavor into that base,” Jeff Grubb of VentureBeat wrote in June. "So expect to see Iron Man, Wolverine and others to show up for this one."
The timeline makes sense for Firaxis, which launched XCOM 2 more than five years ago in 2016 and expanded a year later in 2017. A smaller XCOM spin-off, Chimera Squad, came out in 2020, but it didn’t be developed worldwide Team XCOM 2; has been creative director Jake Solomon working on something else for the last four years.
The “new franchise” of 2K could be a real surprise and a completely different game. But after about four years of development, it looks like it's time for Marvel XCOM to appear. Any bets on the name?
