A speedrunner Grand Theft Auto V has swept the campaign for one player in just nine hours, suffering zero damage.
Speedrunner UnNameD is the first person to complete the One Hit KO execution with the strategies used. He uploaded the three-part speedrun to his YouTube channel, which according to the description was his 48th attempt to complete it, using a mod that kills him instantly if any damage occurs (thanks, Kotaku).
Completing the whole game without scratching it is not a feat, but the victory of UnNameD has erased some feathers. Company Speedrunner DarkViperAU has been trying to run OHKO on your YouTube and Twitch channels since early 2020 and recently hung his 27th attempt. DarkViper had been trying to become the first person to complete the race and apparently hasn’t taken it too well for UnNameD to win it.
A reddit post on r / LiveStreamFail shows a deleted DarkViper comment since then, in which it states that other speed racers trying to run refuse to share strategies while publicly sharing theirs.
I want to go back to speedrunning, but first I have to finish OHKO.May 18, 2021
"The continued knowledge that I was at a disadvantage with a clock that was running out quickly made me prioritize racing even when I should have been recovering from an illness or fulfilling other obligations. In my attempt of overcoming this clock I suffered mentally, physically, financially, and even in terms of people’s perception of my character.
"People sent me spam" to take a break "all day without knowing anything about it. It was my own personal hell. Of course, I had to do a few different things from the OHKO tests, but no I couldn't enjoy or avoid the stress and guilt at all, even if I was out of the races for a day. "
A VOD now deleted shows DarkViper saying it will keep trying a full run, but doesn't want to use any of UnNameD's new or improved strategies, as it doesn't want to give it any credit. A response to a Twitter user also indicates that he wants to return to proper speedrunning, but that he is determined to complete OHKO first.
