Ubisoft is currently recruiting sites for game development based in Australia, suggesting the founding of a new studio based in Sydney, which has not yet been formally announced. Ubisoft already has a Sydney-based office focused on serving the Australian market, but so far has not been involved in game development.
The features are broad, but based on job descriptions the studio will be a "AAA gaming team" in collaboration with Ubisoft San Francisco (responsible for Rocksmith and South Park games). As for the level design role, "the multiplayer map design experience" is an advantage, while the role of environmental artist will focus on "complete map creation." in a multiplayer game in a realistic environment ".
In San Francisco, Ubisoft is currently looking for one main game designer for a "new cross-platform project" that requires prior experience in "AAA titles" and multiplayer design for PC or console games.
I've contacted Ubisoft Australia for comment, but I haven't heard from you yet. Either way, Ubisoft does a lot of cross-continent collaboration in its games, with 14 studios giving Ubisoft Montreal a hand in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The recently announced Assassin's Creed Infinity will be the first developed jointly by the main studios of the series, Ubisoft Quebec and Montreal.
