I found the only feature update that anyone mentioned about Windows 11, the new emoji keyboard. All I can say is that I am 💖 the new design and I think it is beautiful 😎. The latest version of Windows was announced last week, but the Windows 11 Insider Preview version has already been released and we've been staying there since it fell yesterday.
I chose to dual boot my system so as not to clean up the existing installation as things will not work properly. Alan did an all-in and did an on-site update on his main platform, the crazy man. It is a dangerous game; I've already discovered that one of my current games, Snowrunner, doesn't work with Windows 11.
Fortunately Football Manager 2021 is, or would be serious 😡.
Given our predisposition to em-dash here on PC Gamer, the emoji keyboard has become something I trust with my standard Windows 10 machine. Everyone keeps telling me that Alt codes are a thing, but I've never gotten it to work, so it's an automatic replacement for Google Docs or the trusted emoji keyboard.
Unfortunately in Windows 10 it is a small thing, a small black panel that almost seems to be ashamed of its own existence 😔. But not in Windows 11; pressing the (Win) + (Period) keys will bring up a larger, smile-enriched dashboard that also gives you the option to throw GIFs into the dialog that also accepts them.
It has that Windows 11 signature curve on the dashboard, that little shadow underneath and the emojis are finally big enough for you to actually see what they are. There are more, or so it seems. The classic Ascii emotes, or Kaomojis, are much better designed now with security.
It was a real moment (╯ ‵ □ ′) ╯︵┻━┻ trying to extract them from Google every time I wanted to express something in ancient times.
🤷♀️ I’m glad I got a simpler, better-looking way to mess up the format of our site and annoy the eyeballs of so many people at once. Thanks Windows 11🙏
