Townscaper, a delightful toy island builder, leaves early access this August, developer Oskar Stålberg revealed during GameSpot's live Play For All E3 broadcast this week.

Townscaper, a fairly simple city builder, is a wonderful canvas for creating all sorts of quaint coastal villages. Starting from a blank ocean, houses like colored Lego bricks appear, slowly assembling anything from vast coastal cities to imposing multi-level citadels.

Jacob called it his 2020 personal selection, calling it Townscaper a perfect respite from the stress of modern life. Since the launch, some updates have been made: they allow the sun to move, turn off textures for a more minimalist look, and add propellers to the bottom of flying buildings.

Stålberg has not detailed any bold new features with version 1.0 other than a switching port. But keep your ears open for more when we get an exact release date later this summer.
