An ambitious modding team tries to turn Fallout 76 into a great multi-planet space opera with a total conversion Star Wars Open Worlds.
Although currently unfinished and still in development, Star Wars Open Worlds appeared today with a new trailer, showing a surprisingly wide range of locations, characters and scenarios. Boats flying over a coruscating sky. Open war in the deserts of Tatooine. Imperial walkers treading alien jungles.
Everything is very impressive, although a bit depends on the post-processing shaders. In the typical Fallout way, it’s not a bombastic action either: we see meetings in infernal dungeons and bright imperial starships.
According to the Itch page of the modification, Star Wars Open Worlds hopes to have 12 planets to explore, multiple factions to join, NPC companions and allow you to customize characters from various alien species, in a story that unfolded during "the early years of the galactic empire."
Developers Karim Najib and Tank_Girl444 are setting some stratospheric expectations and do not yet have a solid launch window estimate. The Bethesda modification scene is nothing, either, if you’re not familiar with overly ambitious mod projects; this could be something we’ve been following for a decade, if Disney doesn’t abandon it sooner.
But exploring Star Wars from a Fallout perspective is puzzling. And if you’re interested in catching up on development so far, modders occasionally post update videos YouTube.
