Microsoft Flight Simulator will soon get an official racing modality, but composer and environmentalist Illogicoma had his own brilliant idea: what about flying these beauties through some Mario Kart 8 tracks? With the skills needed to make it a reality, this pioneering aviator just went ahead and did it (thank you, Kotaku).
Anyway, I thought Mario Kart 8 tracks would also be fun when I played them in the flight simulator, so I put Mario Kart 8 tracks in the flight simulator and played them and it was true. pic.twitter.com/Gbn5kRfg92August 29, 2021
The video below has a time stamp to the point that Illogicoma and chums are engaged in the serious business of taking a few planes around the Mario Kart runways. As they point out themselves, the planes were not exactly built for karting tracks (and vice versa), so there is some nonsense with collision detection and turns that are impossible to do with the game mechanics.

It’s particularly nice to see planes flying around Rainbow Road, for some strange reason. As Illogicoma would be the first to say, this mod is something they hacked together to laugh at, is a bit tricky and therefore currently not available for download. However, the attention that has been drawn has led them to think about what to do with the work.
"As proof of concept, (modification not available right now") writes Illogicoma. "Sorry!" The video description adds "I wouldn't really be happy to post it in its current state (it wasn't actually built as a proper package; we uploaded it from the source) and I don't have much time to devote "But I'd like to see how to make it a little more polished and maybe add some more. Never say never, but don't expect a big drop soon." With a beautiful smiling face at the end.
In case it happens, we will be up there in the clouds of Wario Stadium. In the meantime, here are the best Microsoft Flight Simulator modifications you can play right now.
