Dotemu, the independent publisher behind the classic renaissance of 90s games like Streets of Rage 4, is back with a game it certainly didn’t see coming: Metal Slug Tactics. The game is described, revealed today at the Summer Game Fest and Steam as "a dynamic tactical role-playing game with roguelike elements."
Metal Slug Tactics is an isometric pixel art strategy game that makes me very happy to see it. It may not be as ridiculously detailed and striking as the Metal Slug arcade games, but it still has a lot of character. Call it more advanced Advance Wars.
Here is the tone of the Steam page:
"Experience the iconic dynamic battles in the METAL SLUG series with a new perspective. Build the adrenaline bar to unlock super attacks and use them wisely. Get a beautiful war experience after each battle and unlock weapons or additional benefits to improve your computer's firepower. "
Some more details:
• Mission designs are generated procedurally
• Metal Slug bosses return
• Returning characters include Marco, Eri, Fio and Tarma
There is currently no Metal Slug Tactics release date.
